Symbiotic Relationships
Mutualism: when two organisms in the same ecosystem benefit each other.
Commensalism: two organisms in the same ecosystem; one benefits and the other neither benefits nor is harmed.
Parasitism: one organism benefits of the other organism, while the other organism is harmed.
Lichen and Tree(mutualism): Both of these organisms benefit off each other. The lichen, which is the fungus on the tree, is given a stable environment to live and is given nutrients from the tree through the process of photosynthesis. The tree is given glucose from the lichen through the process of photosynthesis, as well.
